About the Team

Bruce was born and raised on the West Coast between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Living in Grenada in his late teens may have contributed to a passion for the ocean, sailing and the tropics... it's hard to say but he never really left the sea after that. Captaining charter boats in the Caribbean, whale watching boat in Santa Barbara, and multiple off shore deliveries finally brought him to Sag Harbor.

He started Tait Yachts in 1982 as a family run brokerage firm; his daughter joined the firm in 1989 and now heads up the charter division. Yacht sales, commissioning and management projects have sent him to locales around the globe. His energetic, "hands on" attitude has solidified long term client relations and inter industry friendships along the way.

Bruce loves ocean and inshore yacht racing and has competed in Antigua Race weeks, the Marion and Newport-Bermuda race, Block Island Race Weeks, Heineken Regattas and Les Voile de St. Tropez. He races his J-105 every week in the summer and competes in most area regattas.

Chris first joined us as a sailing instructor in 1983. Born in Jamestown, Rhode Island, Chris grew up sailing the East Coast and the Bahamas. Right out of school he went on to work in the yachting industry as a racing and charter captain. He has cruised and raced both sail and motor yachts from 15 feet to 195 feet. Chris enjoys competing in local and international regattas and won his division in the 2004 Newport Bermuda race of which he has competed in 4 times. He has occupied a desk part time in our office since 1998. Chris returned to the office full time in 2007 after moving to Greenport, NY with his wife and son bringing a wealth of knowledge about the workings of modern sailing and motor yachts both large and small from his hands on experiences.

Danielle Tait Barton - YACHT CHARTERS | SALES

Danielle joined Tait Yachts in 1989 and became a partner in 1994. A degree in Gallery Management and Business couldn't keep her away from joining the family business but certainly contributed to an eye for fresh and crisp décor and overall visual balance of a yacht's interior and exterior spaces. Local knowledge and a passion for cooking and entertaining has enabled her to select yachts with the best chefs for charter vacations and to assist her clients in planning a beautiful event on the water. Danielle enjoysdown time with her daughter, Annabelle and husband, gardening, sailing, paddling or picnicking at the beach.

"Smokin" Joe Grey was born in the artist community of springs in the town of East Hampton, right around the corner from the Jackson Pollock house. His interests, however, were not of an artistic nature, but rather the rough and tumble life on the streets. His reputation preceded him and Tait Yachts put Joe on the payroll in the summer of 2003; he has earned his keep heading up security and rodent control ever since. Be warned if you are a small to mid size dog... be afraid, very afraid.

After fifteen plus years, "Smokin" Joe Grey has completed his "Security tasks" at Tait Yachts, job well done... RIP
